Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) is setting up a new Global Digital Hub in Hyderabad, a major technology centric city in South India.
FCA is investing $ 50 million to set up this facility and this significant investment is likely to expand the automobile manufacturing group’s presence in the country.
FCA ICT India will create around 1,000 new cutting-edge technology jobs by 2021 and has plans to increase hiring in the next two to three years.
The newly recruited employees at FCA ICT will work on new concepts and exciting products that will define the future of mobility at FCA.
The Global Digital Hub will serve as a ‘transformation and innovation engine’ for the company while driving global IT strategy.
Niche technology areas
The Global Digital Hub will primarily focus on building strategic competencies in niche technology areas including connected vehicle programs, data accelerators, artificial intelligence and cloud technologies.
Since past two decades, FCA has been expanding its manufacturing and engineering footprint across India. The new Global Digital Hub marks FCA’s continued commitment to tap into India’s world class digital and IT talent.

FCA’s mew global digital hub will also expand its relationships with several ecosystem partners, including start-ups, digital accelerators and universities.
According to Karim Lalani, Director and Head of FCA ICT India, “We are working closely with strategic technology partners to accelerate our talent and competency ramp-up at FCA ICT India.”
Lalani also said the Global Digital Hub will drive innovation in multiple areas, including customer safety, connected mobility and digital showroom experience.
The vehicle maker has a significant presence in Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu. It has a joint venture vehicle and powertrain manufacturing facility in Ranjangaon, Maharashtra. The company’s engineering and product development operations are located in Pune and Chennai.

FCA India manufactures Jeep Compass in Ranjangaon and exports the SUV to 13 international markets including Japan and Australia.
