Switch Mobility CEO Ganesh ManiSWITCH Mobility, a Hinduja Group electric bus maker, welcomed the union government’s plan of implementing Delhi-NCR Clean Mobility scheme.

The Union Cabinet recently approved a two-year clean mobility scheme to reduce air pollution in the Delhi-National Capital Region (NCR) that will incentivise replacement of older trucks and buses with BS-VI or stricter emission-compliant vehicles. Government vehicles will be excluded from this scheme.

The electric bus major Switch Mobility makes first statement of supporting the scheme.

In the Linkedin post of Switch Mobiity, Ganesh Mani, CEO of the company, says “ We welcome the Union Cabinet’s decisive step, led by the Hon’ble Prime Minister, in advancing a clear, credible, and incentive -rich, clean mobility for the National Capital Region.”

Mani further said, “It allows owners of old commercial vehicles to scrap them at RVSF in exchange for a financial benefit, which can then be applied toward the purchase of a greater vehicle.”

Benefits

For bus operators and LCV fleets, the combination OEM discounts , interest subvention, fuel vouchers and state-level tax and registration waivers translate to tangible benefits.

At Switch Mobilitty, he said, “We are ready with our well-designed, purpose-built EV platforms, connected vehicle technology, and a strong lifecycle support system, backed by a robust manufacturing and service ecosystem. This is the moment we have been building towards.”

The scheme is likely to benefit 2.07 lakh (1.91 lakh trucks and 16,329 buses) owners in Delhi-NCR, said a government statement on the Cabinet decision. While scrapping is mandatory for BS-III or older vehicles, BS-IV vehicles may either be scrapped or sold outside NCR, only in places which are not covered by the National Clean Air Programme.
