IIMBAA Global Mobility Summit 2026Global Mobility Summit 2026, hosted by IIMB Alumni Association, has thrown light on latest technologies that are shaping up the next era of mobility.

The summit themed on ‘MOBILITY 2.0-Gearing for Transformation’ focussed on the three pillars of innovation, intelligence and transformation, exploring AI, software-defined vehicles, connected mobility, electrification, advanced manufacturing, sustainability, emerging business models, and India’s role in building a globally competitive mobility ecosystem.

IIMBAA Global Mobility Summit 2026Held on September 26 at IIMB Auditorium, the fifth edition of Global Mobility Summit witnessed top speakers from the automotive industry from Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI), Maruti Suzuki, Mercedes-Benz R&D India, Ather Energy, NXP Semiconductors, Bosch, AUMOVIO, KPIT, ACKO and other leading organizations.

IIMBAA Global Mobility Summit 2026Delivering key note address, Dr.Reji Mathai, Director, ARAI, said, “India’s complexity is its mobility advantage as 7.1% of GDP comes from the automotive sector with the country topping in three wheeler industry globally while known as the second largest two wheeler maker and third largest car market.”

Mathai said five shifts define Mobility 2.0 like Energy, Software, Intelligence, Trust and Services and the country must advance these five steps as one connected system.

Software-defined vehicles (SDV) expand mobility from product to service and a secured software lifecycle allows capabilities, access and pricing to change throughout vehicle life.

He also raised his concern about road accidents and said that the year 2023 alone witnessed 172,890 fatalities, recording 474 in numbers every day. Safety must be proven in the conditions that define Bharat, he said.

In a panel moderated by Latha Chembrakalam, Founder, AutoAscend Pvt.Ltd, the industry leaders have discussed in detail about the opportunities for India to become as  the Global Intelligent 2.0 Hub. Rajkumar Anantharaman, Senior Director of Software Engineering, NXP Semiconductors, Avnish Gosain, VP, Maruit Suzuki, Dr.Manaswinini Rath, Senior VP, KPIT and Harikrishna Khandavilli, Head of Engineering, Head of Location-Business Area-Architecture & Network Solutions, AUMOVIO have participated in this session.

In one of the fireside chats titled From Components to Intelligence – The New Role of Tier-1s in Mobility 2.0, Vivek Joshi, CEO-Light Metal & Powertrain Systems, Uno Minda along with Sukhianju Srinivasan, Director, Automotive Go-To-Market, ARM have discussed on ahow the Tier 1 suppliers are fine tuning themselves as to cater to the needs of advance technologies and systems required  for the next generation mobility sector.

Meanwhile, the presentation made by Santhosh Godbole, CTO, Brisa Technologies under the theme of ‘Mobility 2.0:Corporat Innovation’ has attracted the attention of attendees.

Godbole talked in detail about a AI-Powered functional safety intelligence platform christened FuSaPro that was developed by his company.

Calling FuSaPro as and Intelligent Integration Layer, Godbole said and an AI powered layer sits on top of your existing ALM/PLM ecosystem, enriched with structured knowledge, to accelerate ISO 26262 compliance.

In an another presentation on safety & skills, Ramashankar Pandey from Automotive Skills Development Council elaborated about the

In an another presentation titled ‘Beyond the Vehicle : AI-Defined Engineering, Guru Mallikarjuna, CTO, Executive Board, Bosch Global Software Technologies, said, “ With shifting value pools, AI takes centerstage in enabling value at velocity & variety.”

Mallikarjuna said that AI continuously amplifies two compounding value loops, one Engineering Value while another is Ecosystem Value. In the Engineering Value, AI compresses the cycle from intent to delivery of product while experience created from chip to cloud : beyond boundaries of the vehicle in Ecosystem value.

Addressing the conference, Dr.Anshuman Awasthi, SVP & Head Powertrain Engineering, Mercedes-Benz R&D India, explained in detail about where competitive advantage is moving while the future mobility seen as a full-stack engineering problem. Software changes fast, but energy, safety, manufacturability  and material availability still set the boundaries. AI is moving through the complete engineering loop.

Awasthi also given five innovation shifts to watch for Moblity 2.0. According to him, they are AI-Native SDV, Electrification 2.0, Criitical Materials & Circularity, Trustworthy Autonomy and Physical AI. These shifts connect the digital vehicle to energy, engineering, factories and supply resilience.
